Mobility Changes Everything
It has been a month since my last post and now, both Evan and Owen are crawling all over the place. We have baby proofed the rooms in the house they have access to, but they still seem to find trouble. It is funny to see two styles of crawling and they both have distinct differences. Evan is very deliberate and his movement is very calculated. That is why we call him Easy Evan. Then there is Owen. He is built for speed. He crawls at 100 mph or doesn't crawl at all. He is a true piece of work. I had to laugh last night. Mom had left us at home to run an errand and I was playing on the floor with both boys. I got a whiff of a dirty diaper so I picked up Evan to go change him. Mind you, Owen was still playing on the floor and I had the family room barricaded from the kitchen so Owen could not crawl into the kitchen and dump the cat food -- like he has done numerous times already. After changing Evan, I turned to the door way and there is Owen. That little booger is smart. He had crawled down two long hallways and found us in the bedroom -- this was the first time either of them had pulled this off. He was looking up at me with a big smile as if to say "I found you." It is apparent he now knows his way around the house.
Backtracking, a few weeks back we made a quick trip up to see Evan and Owen's great grandma. Great grandman Marie is 94 and we surprised her on her birthday weekend. While seeing her was great the car trip was not. My boys are not travelers ---- yet. Coming home, we would normally stop in and visit with Uncle Jim and Aunt Dolores, but Mom and Dad had a scream fest occurring in the back seat and we made record time getting home. With the boys' screaming in Dad's ear for 1.5 hours, we made it from Maryville to home in 3 hours 46 minutes. That's about a 75 mph average -- funny how crying can make Dad's lead foot just a bit heavier.
Spring is here and we cannot wait to get outside more. We just put up a fence to make Mom's play dates in the backyard a little less worrisome. This way, when they start walking soon, they cannot escape the Mom's prison yard.
Until later................
